Madrid-Cuatro Vientos Airport (ICAO: LECU and LEVS) is a second-tier airport located 8 km from the centre of Madrid. Established in 1911, it is the oldest airport in Spain and the cradle of Spanish aviation.
Used by the military since the 1970s, it is both a civil airport and a military base today. Cuatro Vientos is currently home to several schools, including some of the country’s top flight training academies, as well as flying clubs and private jets. It is also the Madrid base for several State services, such as the surveillance helicopters of the General Traffic Directorate, the National Police and the Spanish Air and Space Museum.
