Multi Engine and Instrument Rating (ME & IR) Course
Multi Engine and Instrument Rating (ME & IR) Course
- Base: Cuatro Vientos Airport - Madrid & Mutxamel Airport - Alicante
- Price: 18.500€
- European Flyers offers modular training to obtain the IR rating for those candidates that already hold a JAA PPL or CPL and the CPL/ATPL theory. We provide two options for the course: Single Engine option: You will obtain the IR rating to fly Single Engine aircraft in IFR conditions. Multi Engine option: You will obtain the IR rating to fly Multi Engine aircraft in IFR conditions During either of the two options we use the cutting edge technology and airline oriented procedures that have made us a European reference for aeronautical training.
- Different options for this course exist depending on your previous experience when enrolling: Holders of a JAA CPL or JAA IR (H) license are entitled to reduce their training programmes as specified here by 10 hours Cessna 172 NAV III (flight) In case your experience does not yet comply with the flight experience required before starting the Modular IR and ME courses, please contact European Flyers to inform you on the options we can provide to reach the minimum requirements.
- 35 hours of simulator training
- 38 hours of actual flying as a pilot
- State-of-the-art aircraft such as the Diamond DA42 NG
- Cessna 172NAV III simulators with Garmin 1000 cockpit; the first certified as FNPT-I in the world
Requirements
For enrollment will be required to meet the following requirements:- Hold a current JAA PPL or CPL
- Have completed a JAA CPL or ATPL theoretical course
- Have completed at least 50 crosscountry flight hours as PIC
- Have completed at least 70 flight hours as PICe
- Have an EASA Class I or Class II medical certificate
- Hold a Night Qualification (if holder PPL)
- Part FCL 055

Theory
Theoretical programState of the art technology and procedures focussed on airlines are used during these courses, making us the European benchmark in aeronautical training.
The theoretical part includes 7 hours theory required for obtaining the ME rating. Also, briefings are imparted, which provide a more in-depth theory of the practical aspects of the ME IR training before and after each flight and session in the simulator.
Flight
Flight programDuring the flight programme we will extensively cover all the manoeuvres and procedures as specified in the regulations.
The practical portion will begin by carrying out a series of Single Engine flight hours followed by the multi-engine flight phase. The programme includes the 2 hours that are required in a DA42 for the ME + IR flight check.
Students in possession of an EASA CPL (A) or an EASA CPL-IR (H) license are authorised to cut 10 hours from the flight programme that is specified herein in the Cessna 172 NAV III.

Simulator
Simulator programBefore the flight programme, the student will have the opportunity to train in a simulator (after having received the required theoretical training prior to each session).
The programme includes 10 hours in the G1000 trainer to help with the transition to Glass Cockpit technology. Then, 25 hours of training will be completed in the FNPT-I simulator.
